Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Supreme Court Ruling in 1987

Before 1987, the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe had a lot of conflict with the state of Minnesota regarding who should have control over the hunting, fishing and gathering regulations on Native reservations. Though the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, citizens as well as the state still reach out to Congress in hopes to change the laws protecting tribes and these traditional practices.
